My Favourite Fondue Recipe

Delicious Fondue Recipe

I think I have decided that this blog should really be where I post all my favourite recipes and share them with the world! I am a massive foodie but the top of the list is ALWAYS reserved for cheese... Who doesn't like cheese?

Fondue is basically cheese and wine and is the perfect recipe for sharing with friends.. or simply scoffing to yourself, I'm impressed with how much melted cheese you can eat when this delicious dish is placed in front of you and the best part of it, it's easy...sadly it's not calorie free!

So here's my quick recipe and method... with a little forward planning this shouldn't take you more than 15- 20 minutes to put together, especially if you can convince your fella to do a bit of the hard work too!

Recipe for the cheese Sauce

  • 200g Emmental Cheese
  • 400g Gruyère Cheese
  • 300ml of dry white wine
  • 20ml of Cointreau
  • 1tsp of cornflour
  • 1tsp of mustard powder
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Spices to taste - Nutmeg, Paprika and Pepper

  • Sour Dough Bread

Extras

  • Mini sausages wrapped in bacon
  • Meatballs

The traditional is sticking just with the bread but I can't resist pigging out when it comes to this dish and treating myself to smoked sausages, chicken, meatballs and even some fine fillet steak if that's what you feel like on the night, you can make it as fancy as you like! Your bread and meats will need to be cooked prior and served hot once the cheese sauce is ready.

Method
Warm your Fondue dish in the oven whilst making your cheese sauce.

Pour in your white wine and turn the heat to low, you want to heat it through on the hob but try not to allow it to boil just yet. Measure your Cointreau and mix in your cornflour in a dish of it's own, add the mustard powder to the mix. It's much easier to mix this way.

Add a small amount of cheese at a time and mix well to ensure it melts down, continue to do this until all the cheese has been melted into the sauce. Take your dish out the oven at this part and rub the clove of garlic around the inside and set up the flame.

To finish your cheese sauce simply add your Cointreau mix and nutmeg, paprika and pepper to taste. Bring to the boil and stir thoroughly. Once done this can be added to the hot bowl and you are ready to go!

I love this dish so much, it's fantastic for feeding friends and having a social at the same time. Why not make it more interesting by adding a few forfeits for those who drop their bread in the fondue!

At any point you can switch this recipe up by changing the wine for cider or Gruyère for many of the other wonderful swiss cheeses that melt so well.

Embarrassed..

Maybe I should have started a new blog...

Old posts are embarrassing to read! I feel like I've aged 20 years in four.... Good to keep yourself grounded though, right?!

First Blog In Nearly 4 Years...

Hello old friend...

So I am not usually this bad at sticking to things but I wrote my last blog way over 3 years ago... Life in 4 years has passed by so quickly, I have a few more aches and pains (all from worthy causes) but my adventure experience has just sky rocketed since we last spoke!

I'm trying to find the words to say what I have done without sucking the life from your wonderful body!

Summing it up...

Had an awesome time on my travels around the world...then....Split up from my boyfriend... (Don't worry he was a douche)...the business I set up turned into a monster and is now my full time job... I'm closer to my friends and family more than ever... I moved to Preston with my new boyfriends (Don't worry, he's a prince)... I love being creative... I've travelled to Indonesia, the Gillies, Malaysia, Sigapore, Tunisia and The Philippines since my last update.... I work 7 days a week ( I'm a workaholic).... I love baking... I'm a bit of a fitness freak AND yoga has changed my life.

No sadly I haven't won the lottery or found a Great Uncle with a huge estate in Kensington but I am happy. Happier than I have ever been.

Anyway make yourself happier with some easy tips I use every day.

  • Stop wishing you have what other people have got - Some people have nothing at all so be thankful.
  • Smile at strangers - Smiles are contagious, I believe they make the difference to the world.
  • Try something you've never done before - You regret what you've not done more than what you've done!
  • Spend time with people who love you - Life's too short for those who are never there, if they are not bothered then that's their loss... K-sera!

Hopefully I'll keep up wit this and bring you guys some updates about the business, life, travels, recipes and adventures.

Or see you in another 4 years!
